Why use an epoxy primer?<\/h3>

Unlike antifouling, which is a low-resin paint, the primer creates a durable interface<\/strong> between the gelcoat and the antifouling. It also reinforces its adhesion.<\/p>

The benefits of an epoxy primer: frequently used in the boating industry, epoxy is very durable when immersed in water. However, a number of precautions need to be taken when applying it, and you need to know how to choose the right product for the job.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a>If your boat is fairly new or shows no signs of damp, you can use Epoxygard primer<\/strong> in multi-layers (4 to 5) to create a barrier that reinforces protection against damp.<\/p>

This product is also highly effective as an osmosis treatment (combined with Impregard) or as an anti-corrosion primer for aluminium. Epoxygard is formulated with lamellar fillers to slow the progress of water through the layers.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

For a boat refit,<\/strong> after removing the old antifouling, you want to reinforce the existing protection select HPE in 1 or 2 coats<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>

This thick product is very easy to apply and dries quickly.<\/p>

You can then apply your antifouling, erodible or hard matrix, in 2 coats.
